Lifelong friends Motez and Jamie quit their day jobs and dived headfirst into Buttermilk in 2016. In influencer agency years, that makes us something of a veteran force.
A dream born in Krispy Kreme
The vision was to establish an agency that would provide strategic direction to an industry still in its infancy. Motez was no stranger to the start-up. Jamie was a legal eagle turned marketeer. They both recognised that influencer marketing had legs — long ones.
Why Krispy Kreme? Reliable WiFi. Not the best coffee, but enough to fuel ambitions.

We landed our first clients. They were start-ups too. Big ambitions, small budgets.
We saw influencer campaigns rooted in tired and confused commercial strategies. Conventional thinking applied to a new phenomenon that was anything but. We didn’t like the path everyone was walking on, so we went on our own.
From Kreme to Buttermilk
The Krispy Kreme doors closed, and our central London office doors swung open. Instead of posters on the wall, there were awards. Eleven of them.
